Grievance Studies is Applied Post Modernism

I’m fond of much post modern art. I appreciate breaking things into pieces and putting them together in new ways.

One text that I fell in heart with was The Telephone Book: Technology, Schizophrenia, Electric Speech. It died in the fire of ’94, which I took as a sign that it was the correct way for technology to die.

One launch of said text involved readings from pages randomly selected by those attending said launch. One attendee chose the page with words about the attendance at elitist bookshops in order to appear special. Said attendee was more than familiar with said bookshops, being the owner of one. The other launch included the author reading from a copy of the text whilst said text was burning. It was well and truly lit.

And then, of course, there was that weirdness with a rabbit staring in an old building.

I See Hope In Hope

If one examines the structuralist paradigm of discourse, one is faced with a choice: either accept post-capitalist discourse or conclude that society has significance. Therefore, any number of narratives concerning a self-supporting totality may be revealed.

Sadly, as with much of the modern world, post modern theory is now being applied (poorly) as a means to some kind of end. If only there was a worthwhile product at the end as with much that I heart about post modern art. Instead, there’s no product, merely an ongoing reaching for the bottom. This is applied post modernism.

This is Grievance Studies.

With regard to the issue of content, the metaphorical resonance of the figurative-narrative line-space matrix contextualize the remarkable handling of light.

This work is menacing/playful because of the way the optical suggestions of the negative space endangers the devious simplicity of the distinctive formal juxtapositions.

As an advocate of the Aesthetic of Cancel Culture, I feel that the mechanical mark-making of the spatial relationships contextualize a participation in the critical dialogue of the 1890s.

Although not a painting, Ithe aura of the biomorphic forms contextualize the remarkable handling of darkness.

One of my favoured happenings with the craziness in the multiple tangents that have been journeyed down (and in and out, of course) has been a raised awareness of just how many people there are out there with sticks firmly stuck up their arses.
